Are Pilskog
The Norwegian director, Are Pilskog (born 5th of June, 1976), has been recognized as one of Norway’s new up-and-coming talents for documentary filmmaking. Besides an education in film, he holds a Master in Ecology and Animal Behaviour and his films are characterized by an in-depth understanding of the ecological processes and the behaviour of the animals he films. Together with his brother Sturla, Are produces documentaries from a small island off the west coast of Norway.
The Silver of the Sea (2012) is the director’s second film and it has given him several awards and special nominations, including the first wildlife film ever nominated for an Amanda (the Norwegian national film prize).
