Cannes International Film Festival runs between Wednesday, 17 - Sunday, 28 May.
Norway was also represented at the festival in Cannes last year, when Bent Hamer’s Factotum was screening in Directors’ Fortnight.
The film is produced by Asle Vatn and Christian Fredrik Martin for Friland and starring Nicolai Cleve Broch and Ane Dahl Torp – this year’s Shooting Star at the Berlinale. Uro is the story of a former delinquent, now an undercover policeman investigating drug trafficking, thus exposing one of his best friends.
Last time Norway had an entry in Un Certain Regard – part of the official programme – was Unni Straume’s Dreamplay (Draumspel) in 1994.
Faldbakken who wrote the script with Harald Rosenløw Eeg (Hawaii,Oslo, Scars (Glasskår)), graduated from the Swedish National Film School (Dramatiska Institutet), where his graduation short (as producer) Large and Small Miracles (Små och stora mirakler) was nominated for an Oscar in 2000. Since then he has directed a number of shorts, among them Cosmonaut which screened in the competition in Venice in 2001.
