An international jury has selected Norwegian actor Anders Baasmo Christiansen as the only Scandinavian Shooting Star at the 60th Berlin International Film Festival (between 11-21 February) - he will be one of the 10 young actors, who will participate in European Film Promotion's introduction programme for new talent.

At the festival, between 13-15 February, the Shooting Stars will meet colleagues, agents, casters and leading filmmakers, attend high-profile events, press conferences, and be presented on stage at the Berlinale Palast by festival diretor Dieter Kosslick. During the year they will be invited to festivals and workshops around the world as new ambassadors for European cinema.

The first winner of all Norwegian acting prizes - the Hedda award for Hamlet on stage, the Amanda for Morten Tyldum's Buddy (film) and the Gullruten for his role as Henrik Ibsen in A Man Immortal (En udødelig mann/television) - Christiansen has most recently been widely acclaimed for his performance in Rune Denstad Langlo's North (Nord).

Born in Hamar, he graduated from the Oslo National Academy of the Arts 2002. Recent film credits, besides North, include Gunnar Vikenes'
Vegas, Christian Loe's Best Friends (Bestevenner) and Hans Petter Moland's Bad Accounting (En ganske snill mann), which will be released in 2010. He was also seen in the Swedish Arn-The Knight Templar (Arn-Tempelriddaren) series.

The 33-year-old actor was chosen for the 13th edition of Shooting Stars among 21 nominées from European Film Promotion's member countries. Previously Nicolai Cleve Broch, Ane Dahl Torp, Trond Espen Seim, Aksel Hennie, Maria Bonnevie, Kristoffer Joner, Gørild Mauseth and Anneke von der Lippe have represented Norway in the programme.
