Norwegian actress-director Liv Ullmann and US producer Steven Haft (Dead Poets Society) were in Cannes to meet potential co-production partners for Ullmann’s upcoming film from Icelandic author Olafur Johann Olafsson’s novel, Slóð fiðrildanna (The Journey Home). Staged as a US, UK and Nordic co-production, the $7-$8 million feature has US actress Jennifer Connelly and her husband, Paul Bettany, attached to star in the story of a terminally ill woman who returns to Iceland, looking back on her traumatic experiences during World War II. ”A film about a woman and her secret,” is how Ullmann described the project. Norway’s SF Norge and Iceland’s Sagafilm are backing the production.
