American distributor Strand Releasing picks up Norwegian director Joachim Trier’s second feature and Sundance entry
Currently in the US screening at the Sundance International Film Festival between 19-29 January, Norwegian director Joachim Trier’s second feature, Oslo, August 31st (Oslo, 31. august), has been picked up for American distribution by LA-based Strand Releasing.
-Trier is a greatly talented filmmaker, and certainly in line with the voices we support, said Strand co-president Jo Gerrans, who intended to exhibit Oslo, August 31st at several other American festivals before the late spring release. The deal was closed by German international sales agent, The Match Factory, which has licensed the film to more than 20 territories.
The first Norwegian director to have twice been selected for Sundance, Trier - an advisor of this year’s Directors’ Lab – represents his film with his lead actor Anders Danielsen Lie. Launched in Un Certain Regard at the 2011 Cannes International Film Festival, Oslo, August 31st most recently awarded to top prizes, including for Best Film – at the Stockholm International Film Festival.
