(Jeg er Dina)
Little Dina is the unwitting cause of a tragic accident for
which her grief-stricken father will never forgive her. Neglected
and deprived of maternal love, the wild-child grows to womanhood
torn between her morbid thoughts and a lust for life. Gradually
lured out of her isolation by music and devoted tutor, Dina
continues to comfort herself by conjuring up her mother's
ghost and fantasises about joining her in the spirit world.
An old family friend, Jacob, is smitten, and
against the wishes of his grown stepsons and the misgivings
of the girl's own father, he weds Dina, convinced that he
can tame her. But she rebuffs every attempt to break her will,
scandalising her in-laws and jeopardising her own happiness
as she flirts with death and with her childhood companion,
Tomas, the love-torn stablehand. When Russian anarchist Leo
appears on the scene, Dina is at last offered a challenge
worthy of her dark powers; to take her place in the land of
the living and to love and be loved in retur.
