Director
Emil Stang Lund
Emil Stang Lund (b. 1963) is a Norwegian-American with dual citizenship, born in Boston, MA. Stang Lund is an autodidact director, screenwriter and sometimes actor, who, since 1982, has held a versatile assortment of jobs within the Norwegian film industry.
He received a Norwegian National Film Award Amanda for Best Short Film for The New Pastor in 1989, while his feature film debut Bat Wings garnered him the prize for Best Director at the Moscow International Film Festival in 1993. His second feature Virgins of Riga (1996) was a comedy on Scandinavian businessmen set in the ex-Soviet Republic of Latvia.
Stang Lund is a passionate lover of epic films shot in the grand 65/70mm, but also finds fulfillment in making short film comedies. His short Eye for an Eye (1998) won the Special Award of the Jury in Venice 1998, and the Grand Prix of the European Short Film Competition at the Brussels International Thriller, Science Fiction and Fantasy Festival in 1999.
