This film is a portrait of artist Olaf Storø, living in Longyearbyen, Spitzbergen. He runs a gallery, makes and prints lithographs and creates art out of daily life. The film follows Olaf through the dark winter months while he is working on his ice polar bear sculpture that will guard the entrance of the Global Seed Vault in Longyearbyen. We also get an insight in many of his other artistic projects as well as his thoughts about the daily life in this Far North settlement.

Director biography:
Ingrid Dokka has a various background as a film critic and author. She holds a master in Media and Communication, from University of Oslo and has directed the documentaries, Line D. Pedersen (a portrait) and No Red Carpet (about Norwegian sailors during the 2.World War). Polar Bear in the Belly – Fire in the Heart is her third documentary.
