Short summary "Detector" follows the story of newly graduated psychologist Daniel Jor (Mads Ousdal). Oblivious to the fact that he is rapidly approaching thirty, she insists he live at home with her. When not trying to escape from his mother’s suffocating grip, Daniel and his best friend Ronny (Harald Eia) enjoy their shared hobby – getting under the surface of things with metal detectors. One day, they find a necklace inscribed with the name “Janne,” and Daniel’s life changes direction. Soon, he discovers that the map doesn’t quite match the territory, both where love and his own past are concerned. Still waters run deeper than expected.
Summary Daniel Jor has one hobby (metal detecting), one job (new), one mother (domineering), and no father (dead).

But it is Daniel’s hobby that finally makes him take charge of his life. Searching beneath the surface of things, the detector becomves a way of life as much as a hobby. One day he and his friend Ronny find a necklace with hte inscription ”Janne”. After Ronny announces it on his radio show, a Janne suddenly appears. Daniel falls in love, buys a flat and leaves home. But then janne disappears again, and suddenly Daniel is about to get under the surface of more layers of information than he ever bargained for. For who is this Janne? What does Max want from him? What is up between his boss and his mother, and did Camilla ever really tell the truth about his father?
