| Short summary |
The Man Who Loved Haugesund is a documentary about the Polish jew Moritz Rabinowitz, who came to Haugesund in 1911 and built a clothing empire from nothing. Regardless of his efforts and success, he remained an outsider in
town. Prior to WW II, he was an outspoken fighter against nazism and was the first person the Germans wanted to arrest after the occupation of Norway. After a dramatic escape he was finally arrested and deported in December 1940. Rabinowitz died in German captivity in 1942. |

Director biography:
Jon Haukeland (born 1973). Lives in Oslo and is one of the four owners of the company Medieoperatørene. He started working with documentaries as a reporter, journalist and director at the Norwegian Broadcast Corp. (NRK). Together with his colleagues at Medioperatørene he has created several prize winning documentaries. He is currently involved in producing the documentary “Badass girls” and developing a feature script for the company.

Tore Vollan (born 1967). Studied cinematography at the Polish Film Academy in Lodz and documentary film at the Volda College in Norway. Worked three years as a cameraman at TVP in Stavanger and Oslo. From 1996 working freelance, mainly shooting documentaries for NRK and TV2. Attended the Master Class under DoP Michael Ballhaus, ASC at Filmstudium in Hamburg, Germany,1998-2000. Debut on "The bloody nuisance" by Andrea Katzenberger, a feature film competing in the Kinderfest at Berlinale 2001 and which won prizes in Giffoni, Tokyo and Amsterdam.
