| Short summary |
The festival opener at Haugesund, United follows the 26-year-old Kåre, the coach of a little league team, who dreams of playing for Manchester United and marrying his girlfriend, Anne, at Old Trafford. Neither happens. Instead his old-time rival resurfaces. |
| Summary |
Kåre and Anna have been living together for many years in a small town in Western Norway. They have no children, no dog, no cat, no goldfish or hamster. The common passion they share is Manchester United.
"United" is a romantic comedy about Kåre, a football fanatic who deams of playing for Manchester United, but who has ended up as a warehouse worker at the local shipyard. His childhood sweetheart Anna has had about enough of his lack of initiative. When Kåre's old rival Stian shows up as a bit shot and saviour for the misguided shipyard, that spells trouble for Kåre both professionally and privately. Because Stian plans to fire as many as possible, demand a huge fee for his work, and then elope with Anna.... It's time for football, dreams about love, rivalry, and Western Norway at its best. |
