The Norwegian Film Museum is the first film museum in Scandinavia. It was built in 1999. In The Film Museum you can re-experience the highlights of Norwegian film history, as well as study the technical advances that have taken place in both national and international film development. The history of film reaches back to the cave paintings, and takes us through the pre-cinema period and up until modern cinema of today.
You will learn about Norwegian movie stars, animation puppets, censorship and optical toys. Inside you will find a small cinema with daily screenings of both old and new short films.
