ÁRRU is a musical about Kari, a Sami woman and single parent. Together with her teenage son she is dragged into an activist campaign against the establishment of mines where her family have their reindeer grazing area. When Kari is confronted with a painful memory of a lie she told as a teenager, she faces a difficult choice: keep the secret hidden, or once and for all deal with her past?

    Elle Sofe Henriksen (b. 1984) is from Kautokeino, Norway. Elle Sofe works with choreography and film. She studied at Trinity Laban in London and has a master’s degree in choreography from Oslo National Academy of the Arts in 2010. Since then she has been developing her unique style in film and dance. Themes in her work often relate to traditional Sami culture, told in an experimental, authentic and original way.  Her debut as a filmmaker was in 2007 with the dance film Biegga Savkala at Tromsø International Film Festival. It won a jury and audience award at a Sami film festival. Her film Ribatid won the Moon Jury at ImagineNATIVE.
