Code Name: Nagasaki tells the story of Marius and Fredrik, two young men who forged their friendship through filmmaking and decided to put their skills to a unique challenge: finding Marius’ long lost Japanese mother.

Marius and Fredrik’s friendship has always revolved around movies. Over the years they have made a series of films together, with Fredrik behind the camera and Marius as actor, all stemming from their mutual love of b-movies and genre films. Now, for the first time in their careers, they have decided to make a documentary and base their work on something a little bit closer to home; Marius’ missing mother, who left him when he was only five years old, moved back to Japan, and never kept in touch.

After years living with only photographs and the stories he has been told about her, he has decided to try to track her down and meet her again for the first time in over 25 years.

Starting out with nothing but old pictures and a birth certificate, Marius begins his search for his mother, through the Japanese Embassy all the way to hiring a private investigator in Tokyo and finally leaving for  Japan. All the while, Fredrik and Marius continue to fuse their creative collaboration with Marius' personal search. By fictionalizing the complex dilemmas facing Marius in his quest, both Fredrik and Marius delve deep and explore different aspects and expectations

Follow along on a wild journey across the globe that will put the two men's friendship to the test and bring a mother and a son face to face again, after almost three decades apart.
