    Benjamin Ree (b. 1989) is a Norwegian documentary filmmaker. In the beginning of his career, he worked for BBC and Reuters. Today he makes award-winning short and feature documentary films. Ree's first feature documentary, Magnus, premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2016 and was sold to 64 countries. The film is a coming of age story of a modern genius, Magnus Carlsen, who is the world's best chess player.

    Ree's second feature doc, The Painter and the Thief, premiered at Sundance Film Festival 2020 in the World Documentary Competition.

    Benjamin Ree strives to get exceptional access to fascinating people. He wants to tell stories that are important and entertaining and reach as many people as possible.
