Norsk filminstitutt

Norway’s last surviving male orchestra, the 90 year old Kampen Janitsjarorkester, has an average age of 60. They desperately need to recruit new members to avoid dying out. But there is a shortage of young male musicians. Should the orchestra open its doors and let women join the orchestra? This challenges old traditions. Many are afraid that in the process of saving their beloved orchestra, they will simultaneously destroy this masculine sanctuary.

Marching Forever is a tender, humorous and honest portrait of a male bastion. It is a film about strong friendships, gender roles and the scariest thing of all: change!
