Staying Alive is a comedy about getting back on your feet when life has punched you in the face.

Marianne and Håkon have been married for ten years and have two small children. Marianne’s life is turned upside down when she discovers that Håkon is having an affair with the waffle-cooking accountant at work. And to add insult to the injury he doesn’t drop to his knees and beg her to take him back, but instead suggests they take a break.

Staying Alive is a drama/comedy about modern divorce. About how everyday life gets turned on its head and about the struggle to maintain a sense of normalcy. About making the days work, adapting, and wishing for the best in spite of the chaos divorce entails. We follow our lead character Marianne for half a year, from when she first loses all that is safe and predictable, and her difficult journey toward a new existence.

The lead characters Marianne (37) and Haakon (38) have been married for ten years. They are a couple whose life together is filled with all the problems and trivialities of everyday life. A breakup is essentially a distant thought because they have children, debt, an apartment and a car. So true hell breaks loose when Marianne discovers that Haakon has been having an affair for some time and chooses to leave her.

The divorce is a fact. This film is about Marianne's journey from Haakon and her loss of a family. About how the world changes and how she struggles to maintain a normal existence. About the fear of what happens if you dare let go and try to find a new holding point in life.
