Sesongen starter med en væpnet konflikt mellom Kystvakten og et russisk sikkerhetsselskap, som vokter et oljeanlegg på Melkøya i Nord Norge. Våpen rettes mot hverandre. Ingen sier seg villig til å trekke seg fra konflikten.

Den spente krisesituasjonen utløser en kjedereaksjon som har alvorlige konsekvenser – både politisk og  personlig plan. Spørsmålet alle må stille seg selv er:

  • Eva Sørhaug

    Eva Sørhaug (b. 1971) holds a Bachelors Degree in social sciences at the University of Oslo. She furthered her education at The San Francisco Academy of Art University, where she got her Master of Fine Arts degree in filmmaking in 1999. As part of completing her degree, she also attended the Stockholm Academy of Dramatic Arts for one year.

    After completing her education, Sørhaug directed several short films before making her feature film debut with Cold Lunch in 2008. The film has been screened at over 25 international festivals. Sørhaug is also a skilled director of commercials, and is attached to the production company 4 1/2.

  • Pål Sletaune

    Director, producer and screenwriter Pål Sletaune (b. 1960) holds degrees in literature, photography and art history from the University of Oslo, and has become one of Norway’s foremost directors for both feature films and commercials. Sletaune started his career directing the documentary Merz in 1991, before turning to short film with The Bingo Place in 1992. He made his feature film debut with the critically acclaimed comedic drama Junk Mail in 1997.

    Two of Sletaunes short films, The Bingo Place and Eating Out, entered in a number of international film festivals and have won several awards. Eating Out won the Grand prix at the Hamburg International Short Film Festival in 1994.

    All of Sletaunes feature films have been selected for participation at major festivals, like Cannes, Venice and Toronto. His first feature, Junk Mail, won the grand prize at the International Critics' Week at the Cannes International Film Festival in 1997. The film received rave reviews at the festival and was also selected for the Sundance Film Festival. It was a box office hit in Norway, and sold to more than 40 countries. It won several other awards as well, such as the Jury Award at the Sao Paulo International Film Festival, the Silver Award at the Tokyo International Film Festival, the Silver Spur Award at the Flanders International Film Festival and the FIPRESCI Award at the Stockholm Film Festival. It also won the coveted Norwegian National Film Award Amanda for Best Feature Film, as well as for best actor and actress. In 1998 Variety proclaimed Sletaune as one of the ten most promising directors worldwide.

    Sletaune is also a well known director of commercials with several international awards, including Gold and Silver Lions in Cannes. His features have sold very well internationally, with two of his feature films also selling remake rights to the US and Australia.

    In 1998 Sletaune started the successful production company 4 1/2 along with fellow director Marius Holst and producers Turid Øversveen and Håkon Øverås. The company produces feature films and commercials.

  • Jens Lien

    Jens Lien (b. 1967) went to London in 1990, to play rock'n'roll. Three years later he returned as a filmmaker educated at the London International Film School, with his graduation film Montana to be screened at several international film festivals.

    After returning to Norway in 1993 Lien made his living primarily directing commercials and documentaries for television, in addition to directing several short films. Among these are Shut the Door (2000) and Natural Glasses (2001), both invited for the Official Competiton in Cannes. Both films have won several awards at various international film festivals. Lien also has numerous experimental films on his list of credits, and his video-installation Naken Greve (Making faces) was included in the prestigious Høstutstillingen in 1998, the annual national art exhibition in Oslo each autumn.

    In 2003 he made his feature film debut with the comedic drama Jonny Vang, which premiered at the international film festival in Berlin, as part of the Panorama section. His next film was the critically acclaimed and award-winning The Bothersome Man, which had its world premiere at the Critics' Week in Cannes 2006. His third feature, Sons of Norway, will premiere as the opening film of the 39th Norwegian International Film Festival in Haugesund, august 2011.

  • Erik Richter Strand

    Erik Richter Strand (b. 1974) studied directing at the Norwegian Film School in Lillehammer, graduating in 2003 with the short Circus as his graduation film.

    His short films have participated at, and garnered awards from, several international festivals, as for example Vanished (2001), which won the Director's Award for Best Short at the San Jose International Film Festival in 2002. Richter Strand has also been awarded Cannes Lions for his commercials. He made his debut as a feature film director with the critically acclaimed Sons in 2006, produced through the production company Tordenfilm, which Richter Strand also is a co-owner of, together with several of his Film School alumni.

  • Erik Skjoldbjærg

    Erik Skjoldbjærg (born 1964) is a Norwegian director and writer. He graduated from the National Film and Television School in London in 1997 and made his feature film debut with Insomnia in 1997, which he also co-wrote. The film attracted substantial international attention and was selected for the Semaine de la Critique at the Cannes Film Festival in 1997. The film was remade in 2002, with Christopher Nolan directing. Erik made his international debut with the drama Prozac Nation in 2001, and has since directed several feature films and TV-dramas with both national and international success. He is probably most known for NOKAS (2010), Pioneer (2013), selected by Toronto International Film Festival, and the acclaimed drama Pyromaniac (2016). Erik has also co-created and directed three seasons of Occupied, last season aired on ViaPlay this fall.

  • John Andreas Andersen

    John Andreas Andersen (b. 1971) is one of Norway's currently most respected and used cinematographers, with numerous awards to his name. 20 years, after graduating from the American Film Institute in Los Angeles. Andersen is a renowned DoP with films such as A Conspiracy of Faith (2016), Headhunters (2011), and has co-directed the hit family film Captain Sabertooth and the Treasure of Lama Rama (2014), and the last two episodes of TV success Occupied (2015).
