Om Frontieres

Frontières is a co-production market, networking platform & incubator connecting leading genre film professionals and is internationally established as the leading industry initiative for genre film professionals. Co-organized by the Marché du Film and the Fantasia International Film Festival, Frontières is a three-part platform which includes the Frontières Finance & Packaging Forum, the Frontières Platform in Cannes at the Marché du Film - Festival de Cannes and the Frontières International Co-Production Market in Montreal at Fantasia.

FRONTIERES COPRODUCTION MARKET

Invitation includes access to all the Market and Fantasia Festival activities including:

  • Live pitch sessions from the selected projects;
  • Meeting and networking opportunities with project participants and a large variety of seasoned professionals from the international Genre film industry;
  • Panels and round tables on the latest developments and trends in Genre film production, financing and distribution;
  • A profile in the Frontières Coproduction Market booklet;
  • Access to Fantasia Festival screenings and industry events.

SELECTION REQUIREMENTS

  • Projects must qualify as feature length;
  • Projects must qualify as « Genre » in nature: horror, sci-fi, fantasy, action, dark thriller;
  • Projects must be in late development/early financing;

NOTICE : If your project is in advanced stages of financing (at least 20% of production financing confirmed), you MUST apply for the FORUM when registering.
 

FINANCE & PACKAGING FORUM

Given the uncertainties associated with the pandemic, the Frontières Forum (which previously took place in February) will be integrated into this year’s Co-Production Market in Montréal from August 5th to the 8th, held in conjunction with the Fantasia Film Festival.

SELECTION REQUIREMENTS

  • Projects must qualify as feature length;
  • Projects must qualify as « Genre » in nature: horror, sci-fi, fantasy, action, dark thriller;
  • Projects must be in late development/early financing;
  • Projects must have at least 20% of their production financing confirmed, and/or an international sales agent confirmed. They must be seeking to close their financing and have yet to enter into production;
  • Projects can originate from any territory, but priority will be given to submissions from North America and Europe;
  • Projects must be actively seeking a co-producer as well as a sales agent;
  • The director and the main producer must be available to participate for the entire duration of the market and must arrive in Montreal no later than August 4th, 2021.

FRONTIÈRES PLATFORM IN CANNES

PROOF OF CONCEPT PRESENTATION - A showcase of up to 10 projects with original proof of concept videos to an audience of Marché du Film badgeholders

BUYERS SHOWCASE - Presentation of genre films in post-production, seeking sales agents. Sales agents, distributors and festival programmers are given an opportunity to discover genre films in progress.
