After a dramatic extreme sports accident, Bernt Marius (21) has to have his foot amputated. In the hospital, he sets himself the goal of returning to his life as it was before the accident. Bernt Marius embarks on a journey to find joy in life, with extreme challenges, inner psychological resistance, and doubts about who he wants to be. He has been given a second chance, but how will he use it?
Bernt Marius, shattered, mourns his ruined life. With rehabilitation, he experiences a turning point, deciding to return to his pre-accident life. His disability won't hinder him. With a desire to feel like before the accident, Bernt Marius decide to climb Store Skagastølstind, one of Norway's most inaccessible peaks. On a previous trip, years before the accident, he faced a significant challenge on this mountain, testing his fear of heights and uncertainty. If he conquers these trials again, he believes is rehabilitated and back to the life he wants to live.
The film follows Bernt Marius through training, capturing his highs and lows. We partake in his vulnerable conversations with a psychologist about mental health, navigating anxiety, depression, and uncertainty about identity. Interactions with other amputees and his pursuit of a physiotherapy degree mark another turning point.
Momentum is a character-driven film about overcoming adversity, forging one's path, and the inner struggle to rediscover joy in life. Set against the backdrop of alpine outdoor life and Norwegian nature, it combines risky activities with a personal and inspiring story.
