VICTORIA MUST GO is a dark comedy about two children, their stepmother and a reluctant hitman. Hedvig and Henrik's mother is dead, and their father has a new girlfriend, Victoria. Victoria is a controlling and overbearing woman who has taken over the family. The children are unhappy with the situation and decide to hire a hitman to kill her.Inspired by Henrik's comic book Hitmen, the children start their search for a potential hitman, despite their total lack of experience in crime. They eventually find a few candidates, and they choose Carl, mostly because he looks like a hitman. Carl refuses to help them, because he is a law-abiding citizen with two children of his own. The children decide to try to get rid of Victoria themselves, but they accidentally poison their grandmother instead. To their surprise, their grandmother appreciates their plan and gives them money to convince the hitman. As Carl now finds himself in a difficult financial situation, he agrees to do the job for the family's money. As Victoria announces that they are going to sell the family estate and move to Oslo. The children and their grandmother decide to move forward with their plan immediately. Carl ends up in an impossible situation where he kidnaps Victoria and goes on a thrilling boat chase.

Director

  • Gunnbjörg Gunnarsdóttir

GUNNBJÖRG GUNNARSDOTTIR is a half-Icelandic, half-Norwegian director, based in Bergen. As a self-taught filmmaker she started as a photographer and produced her own material for several years. Her career stretches back to 2012, making mostly music videos and short films. In 2018 Gunnbjörg wrote and directed her first longer film, the zero-budget production “Forever and Never”, a feel-good film about abortion and the expectations of motherhood. In 2019 she co-directed her first feature documentary, “The Art of Fallism”, a political film about structural racism and gender in South Africa. Gunnbjörgs interest of mixing genres, especially comedy and drama with a bit of action, has lead to writing and directing “Victoria must go”:
