Linn Thorkildsen appointed new Head of International Positioning at the Norwegian Film Institute

Thorkildsen has been appointed Head of International Positioning, the section that works to strengthen Norwegian film and series projects’ access to international markets, financing, and audiences across the entire value chain—from development to release.

Linn Thorkildsen joins from her role as Managing Director of SKUP,  the Norwegian Foundation for Invesgitative Journalism, and brings extensive experience from the media and content industry. She has been instrumental in building VGTV’s documentary slate, has worked as a documentary and drama producer, and at TV 2 she worked with TV 2 Sumo being project owner for drama series, and buyer of international programme rights. She holds a degree in Media Studies from the University of Oslo.

“Linn Thorkildsen has a rare combination of strategic insight, leadership experience, and a deep understanding of how content reaches audiences. She will lead a highly competent and experienced section in its day-to-day work with international positioning, and I am very pleased that we have secured her for this role,” says Kjetil Omberg, Director of Audience engagement and Positioning.

Norwegian films and series have achieved impressive results internationally in recent years, and I greatly look forward to contributing to ensuring that Norwegian stories continue to stand out at the highest international level,” says Linn Thorkildsen.

“International positioning is one of our key strategic priorities in the current strategy period. Norwegian film has built significant international momentum, and to manage this strategically we need strong talent across the entire value chain. With Linn Thorkildsen on board, we are significantly strengthening the team, and I am delighted that she is joining the Norwegian Film Institute,” says Kjersti Mo, CEO of the Norwegian Film Institute.

Thorkildsen will take up the position in October.
