They may not look like your typical activists, but Sissel, Anne, Birgit, and Reidar are not planning to retire on a sunbed in Spain, pouring out their fury on social media. As the precious nature surrounding them is sold off to companies claiming to save the planet – with no regard for people’s rights or the common good – they decide to spend their retirement years fighting to preserve nature and reveal the true colors of the “green shift”. Their protests and anger are dismissed as reactionary opposition to projects deemed necessary to reach the climate goals, but these seniors are no quitters. They fight for their land, their mountains, and their fjords, while at the same time questioning the immense forces of profit and greed shaping our nature and values. Are we sacrificing priceless nature for green greed? Land for Sale portrays the feeling of powerlessness and lack of trust in the democratic processes, but also the growing will to fight for values for future generations.
