The Norwegian Film Production Incentive 2026: Five Productions Granted Reimbursement Caps

Grants Series Features

The Norwegian Film Institute (NFI) is offering reimbursement cap of a total of NOK 84,700,000 from the Norwegian Film Production Incentive for the production and post‑production of five film and TV series projects in Norway. Together, the productions are expected to generate up to NOK 339 million in Norway through filming and post‑production.

At the decision meeting of the Norwegian Film Institute (NFI), which administers the Norwegian Film Production Incentive, it was decided that one feature film and four drama series will be offered reimbursement caps. The productions may receive reimbursement of up to 25% of eligible production costs once production in Norway has been completed.

Production activity across various regions of the country

– The film production incentive provides room for five significant film and series productions in Norway in this round of allocations. This leads to production activity across various regions of the country, providing jobs, experience, and expertise for Norwegian film professionals. The fact that several of this year’s allocations go to projects involving Storm Studios demonstrates how Norwegian VFX studios are relevant for high‑end productions. The film production incentive is a crucial tool for enabling such companies to compete globally, secure new projects, and build long‑term competence. These are projects that lift the entire Norwegian film and TV industry, says Kjersti Mo, CEO of the Norwegian Film Institute.

Espen Nordahl at Storm Studios has also been nominated for an Oscar for his visual effects work on Sinners, a major feature film that previously received reimbursement under the film production incentive.

A total of 18 productions applied for reimbursement amounting to NOK 288 million in the 2026 application round for the film production incentive.

This strengthens our foundation for long‑term planning and investments in technology and competence. At the same time, the incentives support the recruitment of specialized expertise, which over time contributes to building a robust professional environment and increases Norway’s visibility as an attractive actor within visual effects internationally. We are very excited to return to the Percy Jackson universe for Season 3 of the series, and it’s incredibly fun to dive back into some superhero action with Marvel, this time in Season 2 of Daredevil, says Thomas Reppen, Managing Director of Storm Studios.

About the Norwegian Film Production Incentive

During the evaluation process, qualified applications are ranked according to specific assessment criteria that align with the objectives of the film production incentive. Prioritization is based on:
