Strategy 2026–2029: We Elevate Stories that Move People

Films Documentaries Series Games

The audiovisual sector is undergoing a period of profound transformation. The Norwegian Film Institute’s strategy for 2026–2029 outlines how we will respond to this reality. The 2026-2029 strategy is now available in English.

The Norwegian Film Institute’s strategy sets out the framework for achieving Norway’s film and games policy objectives for the period 2026–2029.

The English-language version of the 2026–2029 strategy is now available on the NFI website.

"The audiovisual sector is undergoing a period of profound transformation. In this new media landscape, what feels familiar, authentic and rooted in our own language and culture becomes more important than ever. Norwegian films, series and games are not merely entertainment – they carry language, culture, freedom of expression and a sense of community. They offer stories that help us understand ourselves and each other across generations, backgrounds and geography" writes Kjersti Mo, CEO of the Norwegian Film Institute, in the introduction to the strategy document.

The 2026–2029 strategy outlines the main ambition of the Norwegian Film Institute: "Our ambition is to strengthen Norwegian language and culture in a global media environment by enabling independent stories and experiences that matter, move us and bring us together".

The 2026–2029 strategy was presented at a launch event at the Norwegian Film Institute earlier this year.
