    Sara Margrethe Oskal (b. 1970) was a professional reindeer herder until she had to make a choice between the Arts and the monocultural lifestyle. She chose the Arts and holds a PHD in performing Arts from the National Academy of Arts, Oslo-Norway, researching "Sami humor and jester tradition in yoik, storytelling and contemporary stage expressions". She is also an experienced screenwriter and poet and was nominated to the Nordic Council Litterature price in 2016 with the poetry book «savkkuhan sávrri sániid - tireless words». In 2015 she made her debut as a film director with the short film Aurora Keeps an Eye on You. It left a strong impression and was screened in several prestigious international filmfestivals. Sara Margrethe Oskal is currently developing her feature film script The Flame Keeper.
