Documentary film Fighters
(Krigere)

Fighters is a film about identity, togetherness, and the difference one person can make. 

In the film, we follow the youth worker Berat, tasked with rescuing the youngster Mamo from a criminal network. The two develop a close relationship that helps Mamo in a new direction. Still, when Berat takes Mamo's side in a police case, the police begin digging into Berat's upbringing in Hallingdal. There they find conditions that they believe are incompatible with his position as a youth worker.

    Jon Haukeland (b. 1973) is an award-winning director, playwright, and journalist known for his work with the hybrid genre in documentaries in films such as The Man Who Loved Haugesund (2003), Reunion - Ten Years After the War (2011), and What Young Men Do (2016). 

    Jon studied directing under Andrzej Wajda and Wojciech Marczewski at the Wajda School in Warsaw (2010) and at the NYU Tisch School of the Arts (2004), where his mentor Marketa Kimbrell, known for the legendary New York Street Theater Caravan, inspired him to develop his method of staging and reconstruction with real actors.
