Mermaid On Board
(Havfruen ombord)
Buenos Aires, 1927: With a freshly broken heart and a desire to visit her sister in Norway, 22-year-old Norwegian-Argentinian poet Norah Lange boards a freighter bound for Oslo. As the sole female on board, the 45-day journey turns out to be quite the challenge for Norah, who must fend off the increasingly bold crew of lonesome sailors. Mixing different formats and filmmaking styles from different eras, the film is a poetic and playful hybrid documentary about the power dynamic between men and women and the value of adversity.
