A Pole, Robert (19 years old), begins to work in a Norwegian salmon processing plant off the Trøndelag coast in Norway. The boy is learning Norwegian and he dreams of starting a new life. In the factory he meets a young Norwegian - Ivar (19 years old). Robert realizes he has feelings for Ivar awakening in him, but not wanting to lose position in the group of Poles at the factory, he hides his feelings. But Ivar’s persona makes Robert start asking himself important questions: Who is he? What does he want from life? He wants to go out with Ivar, even if he will have to hide the relation- ship from his Polish colleagues. At the same time, Robert is trying to secure the financial existence of himself and his mother. Robert has to choose not only between his emotions towards Ivar and the security of being a part of the group of Polish workers. When a strike breaks out amongst the Polish workers at the factory, Robert faces another dilemma – does he become a scab and save the financial existence of his Catholic mother, or does he join the strike with Ivar? When the Norwegian employer offers him a chance for material success and a solution for his financial problems, it turns out to be an emotional trap...
