NOK 17.6 million for festivals

The Norwegian Film Institute has backed 25 Norwegian film festivals by a total of NOK 17.6 million (€219,000), ranging from NOK 2,965,000 (€331.000) for the Grimstad International Short Film Festival and down to NOK 100,000 (€11,200) for minor showcases.

Festivals are an important supplement

“Festivals are an important supplement to theatrical distribution in Norway; by increasing their activities, we strengthen their position as a meeting place for films and audiences,” said CEO Sindre Guldvog, of the Norwegian Film Institute.
 
The instute’s festival committee, headed by former NFI ceo, Nina Refseth, has shared the support among the applicants both from a wish for a qualitative development of the festivals, and to ensure a geographical spread of film culture.

Money for Grimstad, Haugesund, Bergen, Trondheim and Tromsø

Earmarked in the state budget, the Grimstad International Short Film Festival received NOK 2,965,000 (€331.000). The Norwegian International Film Festival in Haugesund will benefit from NOK 2.6 million (€290,000), while the festivals in Bergen,  Trondheim and Tromsø each cashed in NOK 1.6 million (€179,000).
