-It is a great pleasure to represent Norway as Producer on the Move at Cannes, says Anita Rehoff Larsen.

-In a time that has been especially challenging for artistic cinema, both in terms of financing and distribution, I look forward to expanding my network, meeting new colleagues from both the European and international industry to together find new ways of cooperation, network and continuously work towards finding new markets and audiences for our films, says Rehoff Larsen.

Director and producer of documentary films

Anita Rehoff Larsen is a producer at Sant & Usant and has spent the last 15 years developing, producing, launching, and distributing creative documentary films for the Norwegian and international documentary film industry.

Rehoff Larsen was educated in film production at the University of Sunderland, England, before she worked as both director and producer. In 2010, she became a co-owner of Sant og Usant along with Tone Grøttjord-Glenne. Since then, they have run the company together, and their films have had wide distribution in cinemas, TV, VOD, and streaming services worldwide as well as winning awards such as Amanda and Gullruten, shortlisted for an Oscar for Best Documentary and a number of other international film awards.

The company's latest films include, among others, Store små mennesker/Budding Humans (winner of the Human Prize 2022), Brødrene i skogen/Brothers (winner of the Kistefos Prize/Autumn Exhibition 2022), Sisters on Track (premiered at Tribeca in 2021, distributed by Netflix), Gunda (premiered at the Berlinale 2020, winner of two Amanda Awards, shortlisted for an Oscar and nominated for the Nordic Council Film Prize), Alt det jeg er (nominated for Amanda and Gullruten 2020). The company also has co-productions President (premiered at Sundance 2021) and Writing with fire (Oscar-nominated in 2022) in its portfolio.

Busy schedule

The 20 selected Producers on the Move (PoM) 2024 from all over Europe will go through an intense, five-day tailored program that takes place from May 16 to 20 during the Cannes Film Festival. The overarching goal is to contribute to international co-productions, exchange of experiences, and new networks. The Producers on the Move program will include presentations of the producers' upcoming film projects, speed-dating, and roundtable discussions with renowned industry players.

Who gets selected

The criteria for applying to participate in Producers on the Move 2024 include having been a producer on at least one and no more than three international co-productions and having a film project now suitable for international co-production. Selection is based on points awarded based on experience as a producer/co-producer in addition to international sales, distribution, and festival participation with previous films.

European initiative

Producers on the Move is organized for the 25th time this year, and since its inception, over 500 producers have participated in the program. Producers on the Move is organized by the European Film Promotion (EFP), which since the year 2000 has used the Cannes Festival as a venue to focus attention on new European producers, and to help them establish their own international network. The Norwegian Film Institute is one of the founders of the European Film Promotion, where the Norwegian Film Institute's Stine Oppegaard, is a board member.

Gaining and sharing knowledge

-We are very happy that Anita Rehoff Larsen qualified to become a member of this year's Producer on the Move, especially since she is a documentary producer, which is not usually the case. High standards are set, and the competition this year was strong. Larsen is joined this year by producers from Iceland, Denmark, and Sweden as well, and such a strong Nordic presence is unusually good," says Stine Oppegaard at the Norwegian Film Institute.
