A Sámi Wedding Selected For Toronto

Series

The drama series A Sámi Wedding has been selected for the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival 2025 (4.-14. september).

A Sámi Wedding is produced by Mer Film and Tordenfilm in co-production with Forest People for NRK, with international sales handled by REinvent International Sales.

The series will have its world premiere in Toronto, where it will be screened in the Primetime section. In Norway, the series will air on NRK early 2026.  A Sámi Wedding (original title: Heajastallan - Bryllupsfesten) is the first drama series from writer and director Åse Kathrin Vuolab.

– Being selected for Toronto is a great honour and an amazing start for A Sámi Wedding. Toronto is one of the most prestigious film festivals in the world, and only a few drama series are selected each year.  We are extremely proud, and are loooking forward to showing the series for the Toronto audience, says producers Eric Vogel and Maria Ekerhovd.

A Sámi Wedding has received NOK 4.900.000 in development and production funding from the Norwegian Film Institute.
