Norwegian Film Industry Summit: Norwegian Stories in a Global Industry

Games Films

During Oscar week in Los Angeles, the Norwegian Film Institute is hosting the industry summit Norwegian Stories in a Global Industry — an afternoon of conversations about Norwegian storytelling in the international screen industries.

Norway has a record 11 nominations at this year’s Academy Awards, with nine nominations for Joachim Trier's Sentimental Value, including Best Picture and International Feature Film. The Ugly Stepsister, directed by Emilie Blichfeldt, is nominated for Best Makeup and Hairstyling. Espen Nordahl of Storm Studios is nominated in the Visual Effects category for VFX work on Sinners.

The Norwegian Film Institute is present in Los Angeles during Oscars week to strengthen relationships and promote the Norwegian film industry as global attention is focused on the Academy Awards and on the many Norwegian nominees.

At Stanley House on Saturday, the Norwegian Film Institute in collaboration with Virke (Norwegian Producers Association) and NOW (Nordic Opportunity Week), will bring together fimmakers, game developers and international industry voices for a programme of conversations highlighting Norwegian storytelling in the international screen industries.

Through discussions on talent, collaboration, production, and intellectual property, the summit explores how Norwegian stories move between Norway and Hollywood — and how they travel across the wider international screen industries.

The programme features:

Opening remarks by Lubna JafferyNorway’s Minister of Culture and Equality

André Vargas (Creative Artists Agency), Keynote: Hollywood’s View of the Nordics

Espen Nordahl and Alex Wang: The U.S. in Norway: From The Last of Us to Sinners
